چکیده

Abstract Soils containing significant levels of silt or clay generally exhibit unacceptable engineering properties (i.e. low strength, high compressibility and level volumetric changes) when exposed to variation in moisture content. Chemical stabilizers such as cement lime which are currently practiced, often high-priced unhygienic terms environmental sustainability. The prevailing study intended explore the potential local Rice Husk Ash (RHA) is an agricultural waste, with a soil stabilizer. This experimental was conducted on clayey plasticity. Different mixture proportions RHA 5%, 10%, 20% 30%) 10% 20%) were used treat parent soil. Observations made for variations index liquid limit, plastic sieve analysis, etc.) mechanical compressibility, permeability shear strength) treated soils soon 28 days after mixing. It found that by dry weight optimum dosage treatment. increases unconfined compressive strength internal friction angle 54.05% 60.48%, respectively reduces plasticity 56.67% at could be identified capable improving soil, positively.

Permeability of Lateritic Soil Treated with Lime and Rice Husk Ash

A-7-6 lateritic soil was treated at British Standard Light (BSL) compaction energy with up to 8% lime content (by dry weight of the soil) at 2% variations and each was admixed with up to 8% rice husk ash (RHA) at 2% variations. Effects of the ash on the soil-lime mixtures were investigated with respect to unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and coefficient of permeability. The UCS of the spec...

The Effect of Rice Husk Ash on Mechanical Properties of Clayey Soils Stabilized with Lime in the Presence of Sulphate

Geotechnical engineers, in many cases face with low strength or high swelling potential of clayey soils. Stabilization methods are used to improve the mechanical properties of this type of soils. Lime and cement are the most popular materials used in chemical stabilization of clayey soils. If sulphate exists in the stabilized clayey soil with lime, or if soil is exposed to sulphates, problems s...

Soil Stabilization using Rice Husk Ash and Cement

Soil stabilization has become a major issue in construction engineering and the researches regarding the effectiveness of using industrial wastes are rapidly increasing. The present experimental work briefly describes the suitability of the locally available Rice Husk Ash (RHA) to be used in the local construction industry in a way to minimize the amount of waste to be disposed to the environme...
